Molecular Diagnostics
The Molecular Diagnostics laboratory of the KSVDL provides high quality diagnostic services to practicing veterinarians, the KSU-Veterinary Health Center, researchers and industry. Traditional PCR testing is augmented with molecular genotyping and DNA sequencing services to assist clinicians in identifying infectious agents to the genus, species and strain levels. Testing services include identification of a broad range of viral, bacterial and vector borne pathogens.

Tritchomonas Foetus
Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory expands Tritrichomonas foetus diagnostic capability to include pooling, and alternative collection media.
KSVDL has added the real-time PCR assay of McMillen and Lew (Veterinary Parasitology 141 (2006) 204-215) in the diagnosis of Tritrichomonas foetus. Samples for these tests should be submitted in the InPouch™ TF Pouch or InPouch™ TF Tube (one pouch or tube/bull).
Preputial samples should be immediately inoculated in the InPouch™ TF Pouch or Tube system and shipped to be received by the lab within 72 hours after collection. As KSVDL is open Saturday a.m., samples shipped on Friday for Saturday delivery are acceptable.
Pouches may be ordered in bulk from BioMed Diagnostics (1-800-964-6466) or by the pouch from KSVDL (1-866-512-5650).
