Quality Standards

The Rabies Laboratory is committed to providing our customers with accurate and precise test results in a manner that meets or exceed their expectations. A comprehensive quality management system has been implemented to ensure that our testing is performed to meet the highest standards for both animal and human samples.

Our laboratory always maintains client confidentiality during the testing and billing process and follows regulations set forth by CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act, 1988) and AAVLD (American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians).

The United States Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA-APHIS) recognizes Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (KSVDL) as an approved laboratory to conduct rabies serology of pets for export purposes including the European Union. KSVDL is also a member of the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL).

Upon request for special projects or product testing, the laboratory can meet the requirements outlined in the following: CFR 21 part 211, CFR 21 CFR part 58, and CFR 42 part 493. Please contact rabiesquality@vet.k-state.edu for details.
