Services
Project Planning/Consultation/Grant Writing
Provide assistance with project design, grant preparation and budgeting for pathology services.
Necropsy
Provide thorough post-mortem examination and sample collection. The pathologists are trained and have accesses to different levels of bio-safety laboratories and equipment.
Routine Histology
Our routine histology services include: grossing, tissue processing, paraffin embedding, and slide sectioning and staining. We offer a wide variety of special staining procedures in addition to our routine hematoxylin and eosin (H&E). http://www.ksvdl.org/laboratories/histopathology/
Special Stains
We offer a spectrum of specials stains that can be used to identify infectious agents, illustrate lesions with a section such as fibrosis, stain the walls of certain components of nanoparticles, etc.
Frozen sectioning/Cryostat
We offer frozen sectioning with our Leica CM 150 S cryostat, for either fresh or fixed tissues
Immunohistochemistry/Immunofluorescence
The IHC lab offers over 60 routine markers, detecing a wide varitey of antigens, from viruses and bacteria, to hormones, cell components, and enzymes. Staining is done on our automated staining platform the Leica Bond-Max, which has online deparaffinization and retrieval. We also provide assay development for antibodies of interest, including Mouse-on-Mouse, xenograft labeling, and dual staining. http://www.ksvdl.org/laboratories/immunohistochemistry/
In Situ Hybridization
We offer in situ hybridization development and consultation through the histology laboratory. We currently use RNAscope from Advanced Cell Diagnostics. We are open to trying new ISH assays/technologies.
Morphometry
Electron microscopy
Confocal microscopy
Digital Pathology and Digital analysis
High resolution slide scanning for both brightfield and fluorescent slides is available using the 3D Histech Pannoramic Midi. With server access, slides can be remotely viewed and annotated. With high quality digital imaging, the need for large teaching or classroom sets is eliminated. We can perform immunohistochemistry/in situ hybridization and then scan the slide to produce an image of the slide. Then algorithm software by Indica Laboratories can be used by a pathologist to quantify expression of a marker to retrieve valuable information from research samples.
