Receiving Results from KSVDL

By Dr. Rachel Corn, VT

There are several ways to receive your results from the Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory including email, fax, mail, online portal, or with the KSVDL mobile app. There are many things to consider when deciding which is best for you and your clients.

Email, online and the KSVDL mobile app all require access to the internet on a consistent basis. All three of these methods are rapid and ensure that you get each test as soon as preliminary results are complete. If you are not receiving your emailed results, be sure to check the spam/junk or clutter folders on your email and set KSVDL as a trusted sender.

Online results are available anytime through the KSVDL website (www.KSVDL.org), but you are not notified when new results are available. You can easily print your results from the online results page by clicking on the printer icon. To set up an online results account, go to www.ksvdl.org and click on test results login in the center of the page. A page will open that has a place for your username and password. If you have never set up an account, you will need to go to the upper right hand side of the page where it says login and has an arrow pointing down. When you click on login a drop down menu will appear and you can select “register” to set up an account.

The newest option is the free KSVDL mobile app which is available for Apple and Android. Alerts within the app can be customized to your preference including auto-notification when we accession your samples, when individual test results are finalized, and when entire accessions are finalized. You can also add a test to an existing accession by sending us a message, browse our tests and fees page, and watch many of our how to videos on our YouTube channel. The main advantage to the mobile app versus any other resulting method is the accessibility and customization. You can look up your results while you are on the road or even at a client’s house or farm.

If you do not have access to the internet or prefer a hard copy of your results, we can fax or mail them to you. If hard copy results are needed rapidly (such as Coggins or brucellosis forms) we can send them by UPS Ground for $6. These will get to most locations in Kansas overnight and as a bonus you can track the package.

Once you decide which method or methods will work best for you, feel free to contact Client Care at KSVDL so they can update your account with your resulting preferences. Monthly Invoices can also reach you via email, fax, or mail. You can reach Client Care by phone at 866-512-5650 or email at clientcare@vet.k-state.edu.
